Video Editing
The Casablanca is a non-linear video editing appliance. Non-linear means that the video footage and audio material are stored digitally on the device's hard drive and can then be edited in any order. Storing your footage on a hard drive opens up many options and advantages:
- Direct access to each frame of your video footage
- Perfect freeze frames
- No time spent winding tapes backwards and forwards
- The ability to very quickly change the starting and finishing points of a scene
- Scenes can be freely arranged and sorted
- Totally loss-free copying of footage onto the hard drive
Once you have trimmed the individual scenes with frame-by-frame accuracy and arranged them in the storyboard (all carried out in real time of course) you can insert transition effects between the storyboard scenes. These can range from simple fades to complex three-dimensional effects.
Here is a short list of additional functions provided as standard:
- Parts of a video can be defined and image processing effects (filters) applied to them. These include brightening, colour correction or special effects like charcoal drawing, relief or negative image.
- You can add titles to the video with frame-by-frame accuracy. The colour, font, size and scrolling direction of the text can be chosen to suit your needs.
- In addition to the original soundtrack, you can add commentaries and background music.
- This audio material can be arranged as you choose in three/six stereo tracks and can be mixed to adjust its fade in and out characteristics and volume levels.
- The resulting video can be recorded to a DVD or tape.
You can make further fascinating changes to your raw video footage using a whole range of interesting expansion products.
